  Labrador Retriever– Owners of Labrador Retrievers are always looking for fun things to do. If necessary, they will gladly provide the fun. They love all sports, especially water sports. These people are known for their kindness, compassionate nature and spontaneity. They will try anything, at least once. Favorite TV show: Anything on the Outdoor Life Network. • Game of the week

  Put your dog in a down-stay and place a treat (food or toy) within sight. Return to your dog and release her, and encourage her to go to the treat -- she can eat it or play with it. Repeat this, varying where you put the treat. Next time, "hide" the treat where the dog can't see it, but she can see you putting it there (behind a piece of furniture, for example). Release her, and let her get the treat (show her if necessary). Next, hide the treat in further away, then in another room, out of sight, and if she stays in her "stay" let her find it. You can increase the distance, difficulty, and even number of treats (several small food bits) as your dog gets better at "stay". This is especially good for dogs that have begun to learn "stay" but are nervous about having their people go out of sight.

• Homemade Dog Treat Recipe Healthy Dog Snacks

  1 3/4 cups plain flour 2 tsp toasted wheat germ 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup sesame seeds rind of 1 lemon 12 tsp butter or margarine 1/2 cup ground walnuts 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Combine all the ingredients. Knead until thoroughly blended. Divide into as many parts as you like. You can even freeze the mixture and defrost whenever you like. Preheat oven to 200 degrees celcius. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie pan. Bake about 12 minutes. www.bullwrinkle.com
